Cats Mahjong Review

Cat pictures are already the internet's favorite currency, so somebody figured out a way to make you squint at tiny cartoon cats until your eyes cross, and honestly, it works better than it has any right to. This is a straightforward tile-matching puzzle wrapped in a soft, pastel layout stuffed with different cat breeds instead of the usual bamboo and dragon symbols. It runs right in the browser, no download nonsense, and the touch controls mean it plays just as well on a phone during a bus ride as it does at a desk avoiding actual work.

How To Play

  • Scan the board for two matching cat tiles, not just similar-looking ones.
  • Both tiles need at least one open side before they can be tapped and removed.
  • Click or tap the first tile, then its matching partner, to clear the pair.
  • Keep clearing pairs until every tile on the board is gone.
  • Finish a layout completely to unlock the next level.
  • Use a mouse on desktop or your finger on mobile, whichever's handy.

Top Tips

  • Work the edges of the pile first, since blocked tiles buried under others become playable once outer layers thin out.
  • Don't just grab the first pair you spot; sometimes a matching tile is hiding in plain sight and clearing it opens up three or four others at once.
  • Pause before every move and check the whole board rather than one corner, because tunnel vision is how you get stuck with two isolated tiles at the end.
  • If a level feels jammed, look for tiles stacked in pyramids or towers, they're usually the key to freeing everything underneath.
  • Take it slow on later levels. Speed doesn't matter here, only whether you can actually see the next legal move.
  • If your eyes start blurring the cat patterns together, step back for a second. This game rewards patience way more than fast clicking.
